I am new to Apple. I recently upgraded from an Android Droid phone to the new iPhone And “upgrade” is an understatement! Now, I have always been a PC person, mainly because I program using the Microsoft Visual Studio suite which can only run on Windows. However, with Apple moving over to the Intel microprocessor, Apple essentially grabbed the whole market. You can setup both windows and iOS on the same machine essentially removing your dependency on Windows PC machines. So, I have now begun the journey to Apple products.

My recent purchase was an iPad, the “New” iPad in fact. After purchasing the iPhone and enjoying it so much, in January I almost purchased the second generation pad but heard Apple was about to release the third generation within a couple months so I decided to wait. And wait I did. But it was worth the wait. I love this pad! I never knew how covenant it was to have one of these. Now I have everything at my fingertips and its easier than ever to stay organized.

Before I purchased the iPad, I upgraded my daughter to the new iPhone. She too left the clunky Android platform and loves the new world of iTechnology…. There are some drawbacks of Apple, I admit. I don’t understand why they can’t make a slot for a memory card and having to purchase all my software is a change. However, the software isn’t as much, at least for the iPhones and iPads but the quality of the apps is top notch.

In the 80′s, Nintendo changed the game industry by introducing games which only had been rigorously tested before released for production before this you didn’t know if the game you were buying would even work. I wasted much money on games I purchased which crashed and didn’t even work. So, in the same fashion, I believe Apple is setting the same standard with applications by requiring serious testing standards to be met before released to the public. Microsoft will have to change its game, it’s only a matter of time before this giant falls because they didn’t change quick enough.

Back to my point of this blog, I have now upgraded my daughters phone and tomorrow my wife’s phone to the new iPhone. And because my wife has discovered the convenance of the iPad, I plan to get one for her too. So, now to the point of this blog post…. Domain Registry of America Does Us the Honors.

This scam is very basic. Domain Registry of America sends out millions of these domain expiration notices. The trouble is, if you receive one, your domain isn’t registered with them. Back in the early 2000’s they used to send out notices that looked exactly like a bill. It was only by reading the fine print on the back did you learn that they were in fact NOT your domain registrar and by paying the “bill” you were actually authorizing to transfer your domain to them. To add insult to injury, the new fees were usually double the cost of what you were paying at your current registrar.

This scam was so blatantly deceptive that in December 2003 the FTC slapped their wrist and they were forced to give a token amount of refunds and tweak their advertising a bit. In my opinion they should of had their corporate charter revoked and the CEO thrown in jail. Of course, this is America, so no such thing happened.

So here’s what their notices look like now. Hardly and improvement. If you get one of these, please just recycle it.
